The seat is several inches heigher with the footring and adapter tube. We need the 18.5 - 23.5" so we have to use these without the footring, which makes this a bit less comfortable for short people working at higher tables. 2: The seat is shaped to force your tail end back into a single position. I get up frequently to use a whiteboard, so this stool is perfect for me. It's way better than having to settle down into and rise up again from a normal chair every couple of minutes. I'm 6' 3" and from the descriptions I wasn't sure whether the seat would be high enough for my purpose. As it turns out I don't even need it as high as it can go. I like to have the ball of my foot on the floor instead of on the foot ring, so that's the setting I use.For this review I raised the seat as high as it would go and moved my rear all the way against the back rest. I have long legs and yet my heels were 7" above the floor. At the lowest setting (I don't remove the foot ring) and sitting all the way back in the chair my heels still don't quite reach the floor. The lowest height WITHOUT the rolling casters is at the lowest 24 inches. The desk I use this at is 28 1/2 inches and this chair, again WITHOUT the casters just barely gives me room to put my legs under it. In one of the reviews it stated that the dimensions were off but they didn't give any true dimensions, so I took a chance and ordered it. I am using it as I type this review, and it does work, however, I do have to pull my keyboard closer because of the height of the chair. It really is a great chair for the price. It arrived a day earlier than expected, took about 20 minutes to assemble. I really like the arm rests, as it allows me to use the keyboard while resting my arms. The seat is well padded and is comfortable. Since the desk I use this at extends out, I can swivel this chair to leave the desk without having to move the chair, which is great because I had to leave the casters off.
